Community Investment
Citizens Review Panel
CRP volunteers review applications for funding, participate in site visits and make recommendations for funding to ensure every United Way funded program is effective and efficient in addressing priority needs in our community. Requirements include computer literacy skills, orientation, time to review applications prior to site visits, and 2 to 3 half-day blocks for site visits.
VITA – Volunteer Income Tax Program
With only a few hours a week, you can make a positive impact in the lives of your neighbors. No experience necessary. Volunteers receive FREE IRS training and certification.
Office/Clerical
There is always office and clerical work that we can use your help with. From stuffing envelopes to organizing marketing materials, there are lots to be done.

Day of Caring
This one-day event each fall brings together over a thousand Indian River County residents to lend their hands and hearts to a variety of projects for local schools, churches, and nonprofits. Typical projects include landscaping, cleaning, painting, organizing, and beautifying.
Jackie Robinson Celebration Game
Come be a part of Vero Beach’s place in baseball history! Every year on April 15th we celebrate the achievements of Jackie Robinson. Volunteer opportunities include parking lot assistants, traffic control, ticket takers, distribution programs, 50/50 raffle sellers, general crowd control, ticket booth, and floaters.
Citrus Sale
For one week, beginning on the Monday following Thanksgiving, volunteer in the office and help process Citrus Sale orders.
Disaster Response Team
During emergencies, UWIRC serves as a volunteer reception center in the coordination of Spontaneous Unaffiliated Volunteers and help support the relief effort of ESF#15 (volunteers and donations), under the direction of IRC Emergency Management. Roles include volunteer staff at the Volunteer Reception Center: registration, interviewer, data entry, safety training, runners, phone bank. A Spontaneous Unaffiliated Volunteer or SUV is a person that has not received formal disaster response training from any state organization or any Agency active in a disaster. These people are crucial in the response of a disaster.
Other
From raising awareness of United Way, researching community opportunities, working on unique community projects, and sitting on committees created and directed by our board of directors, our volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs.
