United Way of Indian River County, in partnership with the IRS, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, is once again offering free tax preparation and e-filing services to residents with an annual household income of $68,000 or less.

Many hardworking families risk missing out on essential tax credits without proper assistance. To ensure everyone gets the refunds and credits they deserve, IRS-trained and certified United Way VITA volunteers provide expert, free tax preparation to qualified individuals in Indian River County. This includes ensuring access to valuable credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly or Disabled.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of the United Way of Indian River County offering free tax preparation through the VITA program. Last year, dedicated IRS-certified volunteers helped file 2,484 tax returns, resulting in over $1.94 million in state and federal refunds, with an average household refund of $1,225.

VITA is a key financial stability initiative supported by United Way of Indian River County, helping families and individuals maximize their refunds and strengthen the community. We sincerely thank our VITA program sponsors Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital and Offutt Barton Schlitt for their generous support.
