Meet Jessica Schmitt

Jessica Schmitt Joins United Way as Director of Philanthropy

United Way of Indian River County announces Ms. Jessica Schmitt as the new Director of Philanthropy. Ms. Schmitt brings 15 years of extensive knowledge and skills in fundraising and campaign planning.

 

“We are thrilled Jessica Schmitt has accepted the invitation to become the new Director of Philanthropy,” commented Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “Jessica has a wealth of nonprofit experience combined with a familiarity with our community. We look forward to her growing her connections with our partners and finding new ways to develop philanthropic support.”

 

Before joining United Way, Jessica worked as the Executive Director of Literacy Services, and helped lead the organization through Board development, strategic planning, and commemorating its 50th Anniversary. She also brings experience from previously held positions with Indian River Habitat for Humanity and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indian River County.

 

“I’m excited to join the enthusiastic team at United Way to elevate their fundraising to meet campaign goals and help everyone thrive in Indian River County,” said Jessica. “After serving various, local nonprofit organizations for the past 15 years, it’s like a full circle moment to serve and support many organizations within our community.”

 

Jessica is an avid community volunteer, has served as the volunteer Council Director and Board Chair for Girls on the Run, and currently serves as the President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Indian River Chapter. For over 12 years, Ms. Schmitt has been an active advocate for girls and a mentor at Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

 

In her role, Schmitt will lead fundraising initiatives based on the emerging needs of the community and is responsible for revenue growth and cultivating leadership donors.
