United Way of Indian River County brought together donors, volunteers, workplace partners, funded agencies, and community supporters for its Fourth Annual Thank You Block Party Featuring Trike Wars on June 5 in Vero Beach.
The annual event celebrates the close of United Way’s campaign season and recognizes the workplaces, volunteers, and supporters who help strengthen health, education, financial stability, and resilience throughout Indian River County.
This year’s Trike Wars competition featured teams representing United Way’s Torchbearer Workplaces, organizations that contribute $12,000 or more annually through employee giving and corporate sponsorships. Competing teams included Publix (three teams), Merrill Lynch, Indian River County, School District of Indian River County, Seacoast Bank, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital and Northern Trust.
After a series of fast-paced relay races and several closely contested heats, Indian River County captured the championship title, unseating returning competitors and earning bragging rights as the 2026 Trike Wars Champion. The final heat featured Indian River County, School District of Indian River County, and Merrill Lynch.
The event was emceed by Jeff Petersen, while Alex Batt designed and created the racecourse that challenges competitors throughout the evening.
In addition to the races, families enjoyed face painting and temporary tattoos provide by Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, while attendees participated in a 50/50 raffle and gathered to celebrate another successful campaign season. Following the competition, local favorite 60 West took the stage, featuring United Way Foundation Board Member Mike McGee.
United Way extends its gratitude to event sponsors Publix, Northern Trust, Gotta Go Green, and Jordan Hedges State Farm for helping make the event possible. Special thanks also go to the event committee and volunteers whose efforts helped create another memorable evening for the community.
The annual Thank You Block Party Featuring Trike Wars serves as United Way’s opportunity to celebrate the collective impact of local donors, volunteers, workplace, nonprofit partners, and community leaders who work together to create lasting change across Indian River County.
The 2025-2026 Torchbearer Workplaces include Publix, Seacoast Bank, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Northern Trust, School District of Indian River County, Florida Power & Light Company, Indian River County and Merrill Lynch.
