This one-day volunteer event is unlike any other in Indian River County! Each year, countless volunteers roll up their sleeves and work together to make a difference in our community. Whether you’re a community organization with a project that needs doing or a volunteer ready to get to work, Day of Caring is for you!

Most frequent questions and answers

United Way’s Day of Caring is a great opportunity for individuals, families, friends or teams to spend a morning giving back to the community. Join folks from all around this county for an opportunity to make a real difference. 

Nonprofits often don’t have the resources to keep up with all of the good work they do – so this is our chance to help them and make Indian River County a better place. 

The day begins at 8:00 AM with a welcome, sign in, and complimentary breakfast at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex. Volunteer projects begin at the host site locations promptly at 9:00 AM.

Day of Caring is Saturday, October 21, 2023. Projects begin at the host site location promptly at 9:00 AM.

  • Click “Volunteer Registration” at the top of this page
  • This takes you to the 2023 Day of Caring Splash Page
  • Here you can view all of the registered projects in one place. Each project’s face page shows the name of the project, the name of the organization, the date and time, and the capacity (or how many volunteers are needed for that project)
  • Click on the project you would like to volunteer for where you can learn more details about the project and sign up to volunteer
  • On the left side of the screen, you will see a box “Sign Up For This Opportunity”
  • If you are only registering yourself, click the blue button “Sign Up”
  • Enter YOUR personal information and answer all questions as prompted (make sure to indicate the name of your team if you are part of a team)
    • Are you part of a registered team of volunteers = Yes, If so, which team = enter the name of your Team here (make sure your guests/team members know the name of your team!
  • Click the blue “Sign Up” button
  • A waiver will pop up, click Accept
  • You will receive an email confirmation
    • Click “Volunteer Registration” at the top of this page
    • This takes you to the 2023 Day of Caring Splash Page
    • Here you can view all of the registered projects in one place. Each project’s face page shows the name of the project, the name of the organization, the date and time, and the capacity (or how many volunteers are needed for that project)
    • Click on the project you would like to volunteer for where you can learn more details about the project and sign up to volunteer
    • On the left side of the screen, you will see a box “Sign Up For This Opportunity”
    • Click the link “+ Add Guests”
    • Use the radial button -/+ to add the # of guests (team members)
    • Click the blue button “Add # Guests”
    • Click the blue “Sign Up” button
    • Enter YOUR personal information and answer all questions as prompted making sure to indicate the name of your team
      • Are you part of a registered team of volunteers = Yes, If so, which team = enter the name of your Team here (make sure your guests/team members know the name of your team!)
    • Click the blue “Sign Up” button
    • YOUR waiver will pop up, click Accept
    • NOTE: Now you and your team members have reserved spots for this project
    • You will get a new pop-up box “Add Guests

     

    Option 1:

    You can enter basic information about each of your guests in the “Add Guests” section (name, email address, phone #).

    You can continue to add additional guests by clicking “+Add Another Guest” and completing each person’s basic information.

    When all guests are added, click the blue “Update Guests” button.

    The system will send out an email to each person with a link to complete the remainder of their registration.

    NOTE: They will need to enter their personal information, answer all questions as prompted, and accept their personal waiver. 

    IMPORTANT: If you use your own email address for every guest, the system will email YOU the follow-up links for each guest, and you will be responsible for completing each person’s registration for them.

     

    Option 2:

    Copy and share the link shown on the screen by emailing it to each of your guests so they can claim the spots that you have reserved for them.

    Each person will be able to click on the link and complete their own registration.

    They will need to enter their personal information, answer all questions as prompted, and accept their personal waiver.

Yes, absolutely. You will need to complete the project registration form (link at the top of the page) and create an organization page on Volunteer Indian River County.

During registration, you will have an opportunity to submit additional information including special accommodations.

In many cases, all materials for a project will be provided; however, depending on the project, you may be asked if you can bring extra tools if they are available (ie. a shovel, rake, drill, etc.). Sunscreen and bug space is also a good idea if you will be working outside.
